Meet my friend, Pkay!

For this week's blog post, I was looking to interview someone that not only seems to have a taste for fashion, but actually does fashion/lifestyle blogging on social media! Pkay came to my mind instantly.

I know Pkay via mutual friends, and just from following her on social media! I was able to get in touch with her and she was the BEST for answering my super awesome list of questions.

1. Tell me a little bit about you!

Hi! My name is Pkay and I’m currently living in Columbus, Ohio. I grew up in Akron and have also spent two years living in Cleveland while serving for AmeriCorps. I spend most of my time with my family, exploring, getting to know new people, and cuddling my two pups! My 9-5 job is teaching elementary school but on the side, I use social media to help connect people to companies, places, and brands that I enjoy.

2. When did you become interested in fashion/lifestyle blogging? When did you start your journey?

I’ve used fashion as a way to express myself from a very young age. In high school, I discovered Pinterest and it really grew from there. I started my journey in 2017 when I was a year into corporate America. I realized that you have to make the first move to go after your passion and that even if you are nervous, your genuine zeal will shine through.

3. What/who, if anything or anyone, inspired you to start?

The queen, Lauryn Evarts Bosstick (The Skinny Confidential) inspired me to start my own page. I loved looking to her for advice.

4. How do you maintain your busy schedule between your full-time teaching job and your fashion/lifestyle blogging on Instagram?

It’s a juggle let me tell you! Some nights I’m really wiped. Teaching is a job that you cannot be attentive to your phone or email during the day. I spend my daytime hours with the kids. I try to balance the Instagram work in the evening. It can be tiring going to events after work but I love it, so it’s very worth it! I also utilize apps like Planoly. I can plan out my posts on the weekends, captions and all. Then, I can schedule the posts so that I don’t have to think about it while teaching.

5. Who is your favorite fashion/lifestyle blogger?

I love following Payton Sartain. She gives off a very authentic, down-to-earth vibe. Same with Claudia Graziano and Michelle Infusino

6. What is your favorite social media platform to work with and why?

I love Instagram because you can connect with people in many different ways. Pinterest is great for inspiration, but oftentimes the owner of the photo is not directly accessible. Instagram is driven by photos which are my favorite form of art. But you can also comment your thoughts and even message your favorite creators, brands, etc.

7. Where do you gain your fashion/lifestyle inspo?

I love Hailey Bieber’s vibe. She is the perfect mixture of street and chic.

8. What is your favorite season to dress for?

Fall! The color palette works with my skin/hair. Laying is one of my favorite fashion go-to’s.

9. If you could choose only one color to wear for a week, what would you pick and why?

BLACK. It goes with everything, it’s a mood, and it’s slimming. What more could ya ask for?

10. How has fashion/lifestyle blogging impacted you/your life?

It has helped me form relationships with some of my favorite brands! That has been a very cool experience. I have also met so many new people from being in this industry and made new friends!
